Figures and Facts!

On going: Figures and Facts 2010.  3 - 4 and 5 December, 24 locations (galleries, museums, art organisations and private art spaces) are co-operating to this event to highlight the field of visual art in Ghent (view program).

At the heart of the Figures and Facts festival, Pieterjan Ginckels opens S.P.A.M. Office, his spam archiving firm, for the first time. Three days long, five hired employees will check emails, detect spam, print and prepare for a proofread and finally archive the letters.

Please forward all your spam email (or other unwanted messages, the S.P.A.M. Officers will decide) to s-p-a-m@live.com, and come watch the office at work on December 3, 4 and 5.

Canvas: portrait

While autumn has some mood-swings and it gets snowy outside I did a photo-shoot of Sven Speybrouck, a host on Belgian radio and television.  If the TV marketing peepz are satisfied with the photos they will print posters to advertise the program 'Publiek Geheim' on Canvas! Fingers crossed!!!

After the rain

The rain is my main excuse for the lack in posts, I've been quite busy/lazy (delete as appropriate). But change is coming!!

Gonna plan some shoots for the coming weeks. Want to try out some editorial shoots and fashion portraits... I know, so girly like.. but look at the stunning work of Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Stiven Klein, Annie Leibovitz.. you gotta love them!

In the mix: Urban Outfitters featuring my portraits

Woop Woop, this is the sound of the police. Ah no, this was the concert I've been to on Friday. KRS One was in the house and showed us what old school hip hop was.. woop woop!

On Saturday I've been to Antwerp and visited the Urban Outfitters shop. This American retailer with a boutique approach loves using their space for expositions. A while ago they shout out they were looking for photographs and guess what.. yes starting from tomorrow I can show some of my portraits on the second floor.. woop woop!

To all you fashion chickens and shopaholics, enter the empire of unique vintage, hip or indie clothing and visit the second floor of the Urban Outfitters shop on the Meir in Antwerp during the coming weeks!!

Marilyn Monroe: Fragments

Style icon Marilyn Monroe was rarely seen as a writer. Fragments of her personal diary, notes and letters has been collected and published in a volume called Fragments. This book which probably is steeped in melancholy is a must have.  A perfect birthday gift, my dear friends.. wink wink.

I'm really looking forward to read through her personal notes and poems so I will have another look on this icon than the famous figure on the silver screen.

During the 'Laura' shoot in September I tried to make some shots with the movie star grade. This is what my Yashica made of it:

Confusing digital camera's...

Here's the solution!
Wondering why they cast (uhm watch your words Sarah) "elder" people for this commercial... Analog camera's are more hot than you think, even without the automatic focus and free film roll!!!

Quartier & Marché Bricolé

Quartier Bricolé.. what is that.. I can hear you thinking, it sounds French!  Actually, it's a nice craft shop in the middle of Bruges. Here you can find contemporary homeware, gadgets and stylish gifts all made by Belgian designers.  Behind the counter you'll find the friendly smile of Ellie also know as Lemon Lizzie.

Beyond Quartier Bricolé, there is also Marché Bricolé, another French sounding word, but we're still in Bruges. Marché Bricolé takes place a few times a year a little bit further in the Langestraat and it's a small market with a colorfull selection of handicraft things and designs.

Check out the website / facebook for more information!

Fashion week: Carrément

Fashion week... Milan, Paris, London, New York... and even in Gent!!
We don't have the big shows and afterparties with famous designers..but we have a boutique at the Brabantdam called Carrément. They are having their own fashion week and  models, even the famous Veronique De Kock, showed the latest collection of Dolce & Gabbana, Atos Lombardini, Frida shoes and many more.

Ooo I fell in love.. I saw the most beautifull pumps ever.. I would say priceless, but uhm pricey is a better word.  The blue Dolce & Gabbana 's probably cost more than 300 €...  but.. if 30 friends of mine each pay 10 €, I wouldn't mind to pay the rest!  Anyway it's almost my birthday..

The Day I Fell in Love With Morocco (part 2)

In the first part of our trip we explored the North and the Rif Mountains. In Part two we took a step back in time in the cultural, inte...
