Miredondemire, a talented Spanish illustrator

I just came back from a few days in Barcelona, a dream for design lovers and architecture addicts! Pictures will follow soon, but I wanted to introduce you to a Spanish friend of mine who's an illustrator:

 This young talented lady is a very good illustrator. I met Mireia 6 years ago, when she was on Erasmus in Belgium. Since then she has been living in Amsterdam, New York and London to work in the better design and advertising agencies.  Recently she moved back to Spain, to Barcelona.

The Great Gatsby: a feast for the eye

Already madly in love with Fitzgerald's masterpiece, I was very eager to see the movie directed by Baz Luhrmann, known from Rome + Juliet and Moulin Rouge. 

I know there are haters, as there always are, but honestly: I think Gatsby is really great!  Luhrmann paints a good picture of a lifestyle and a decade that is both fascinating and horrific, the Roaring Twenties, the jazz age.

You might predict Luhrmann would opting for music of that era. However,  the soundtrack features songs by by Fergie, Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Jay-Z, Nero, The xx, and will.i.am. I'm wondering if Fitzgerald would be a fan of the sound.

So Gatsby is great, yes. The film is quite the audio-visual entertaining ride, maybe the story could be a bit stronger, but definitely enough right ingredients to watch it on the big screen!

Film: The Bling Ring - Sofia Coppola

Imagine you can go 'shopping' in the closet of rich and famous fashionista…  that's what all grown up Emma Watson does in an upcoming Sofia Coppola film.

While I was far from fan of Coppola's last picture 'somewhere', I'm more than curious to see her latest 'The Bling Ring'.  It's a true life story telling the tale of some Hollywood Hill burglaries by a bunch of L.A. teens who stole from stars like Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, … back in 2009.

The Bling Ring goes in premiere in Belgium on Wednesday June 5th.
