Forget the #selfies and 'most healthy lunch ever' snapshots and take a look at the Everybody Street trailer!

Everybody Street is a new documentary about iconic New York street photographers, such as Bruce Davidson, Elliot Erwitt, Jill Freedman,  Joel Meyerowitz, Rebecca Lepkoff, Mary Ellen Mark, Clayton Patterson, Ricky Powell, Jamel Shabazz, Boogie and many others who have dedicated their lives to capture the unique spirit of their beloved city.

“All I want to do is take pictures. I don’t care about anything else.” ~Bruce Davidson

The documentary will make its world premier in April 2014. *curious*

Fashion vs. StreetStyle

New York, London, Paris, …   one by one fashionable cities with great fashion shows!  But there is also 'the circus outside the show': the street style photographers.

The romance between photographers and fashion on the streets is a tool for magazine editors and designers, an expression for the photographer himself and the model but a frustration for many fashion editors.

Garage magazine captured all the fuss in a short documentary about the circus!

I have to admit, I love street style blogs! There is something about those causual and every day shots in a steet-settings.  My roommate pointed out this charming blog 'What Ali wore'.

Photographer Zoe Spawton works in a cafe in Berlin and every morning at 9:05, Ali, this elderly Turkish man walks by, dressed very stylish.  After days, weeks of greetings and smilings Zoe started to take pictures of Ali.  A new street style star is born: What Ali Wore

Instant trooper alert: a polaroid story, the expo

Instant trooper alert!!!

Some years ago I met Elisabeth at a concert of Mulatu Astate.  Miss Ouni and her polaroid camera were standing in the front row.  From then on, almost every soulful concert or hiphop gig I went to.. I saw Elisabeth and her polaroid camera trying to find a way to make a snap shot of Qtip, Raphael Saadiq, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Sa Ra, Method man, and so on and so on. … and ... she has some amazing shots!!

You can find them on her website, but even better: you can find them on her very own expo!!!

A Polaroid Story: from October 11th until October 27th @ A&Gallery.
Are you attending?

Besides being a trooper with that polaroid camera, we must say.. this girl has taste in music!!   Check out 22tracks.com the Ouni takeover

To click or not to click ..

'De Standaard' a Belgian newspaper organises monthly a photo contest evaluated by Jimmy Kets.   The theme of  August is 'summer', you know.. that season with sun and fun and blablabla..  Anyhow, I was thinking: let's try this baby!  So I've sent 'the old ladies on the beach' picture from last holiday.  The question is yours now, to click .. or not to click.. up to you!  You can do your thing here.

Ed Templeton: the cemetery of reason

S.M.A.K.
3 April – 13 June 2010

Curated by Thomas Caron

Citadelpark – 9000
Ghent – Belgium

http://www.smak.be

From April 3th till June 13th the S.M.A.K. will be exhibiting the artwork of the American artist Ed Templeton. The opening of the show titled The Cemetery of Reason, took place last Friday evening.

We were not the only visitors for the opening, it was a crowded house at the S.M.A.K. The audience tried to navigate through the story of a pro skateboarder, a photographer, a drawer, a painter, etc ..

Templeton mainly documented his own life and those of the people around him. The show exposes naked photos, young people doing naughty things and provocative imagery. I think skateboarders like the naked truth...

I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this show!

Lijn 3

This afternoon I went to a nice exposition "Lijn 3". This project is one of several photographers who portrayed the life in the Brugse Poort, a suburb in the city of Gent. During an imaginary bus ride, you are confronted with portraits of addicts, squatters and gypsies roma, made by Filip Claus, Tim Dirven, Jimmy Kets,...

After my visit to this exposition I had a drink in the city with a Leopard lady!

A paper with news

A paper with news.. a newspaper. Lots of stories and pictures. One paper on one day used one of the pictures I've took from the Mayer Hawthorne concert. The people of Stones Throw records, the label M.H. is signed to, contacted me and put me in contact with someone from the Telegraph. My own little moment of fame..:)

The Day I Fell in Love With Morocco (part 2)

In the first part of our trip we explored the North and the Rif Mountains. In Part two we took a step back in time in the cultural, inte...
