A paper with news

A paper with news.. a newspaper. Lots of stories and pictures. One paper on one day used one of the pictures I've took from the Mayer Hawthorne concert. The people of Stones Throw records, the label M.H. is signed to, contacted me and put me in contact with someone from the Telegraph. My own little moment of fame..:)

Cinematic feeling

I have a cinematic feeling lately. Visited the cinema twice and wanna see more ..

Seen:

De helaasheid der dingen

The Misfortunates, this is how the movie will be shown in American cinema. This story is about the ordinary lives of extraordinary Belgians and based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Dimitri Verhulst.

500 days of Summer:

A non-typical Hollywood love story with indie chemistry. Check out the music from She& Him, the band of actrice Zooey Deschanel.

Wanna See:

My queen Karo:

Les Barons:

More movies I need to see? Let me know!

View master

I love every way of shopping.. the most secure one is photo-shopping. Still busy with those fashion shots of last Saturday. I'm haunted by those damn shadows.. I maybe liked the shoot itself, but the more I look to the result the more I realise how much not done those shadows are... Ooo I need to find someone to show me how a studio works.. Anyhow.. this is apicture I like. Remember the view master... I've got one and I pushed it in Jolien's hands while she was posing.

° Make me Up°

Make up your mind .. and your face! Last summer I've met Adelien De Puysseleyr a make-up artist also known from the beauty boudoir on the Radio Modern events. We did a try out :a mix of Adelien's make up and my camera. Jolien was the model of my first beauty shoot.
We had to be creative as we could not use a studio or the professional light stuff, so we relied on Adelien her living room and some spotlights.

Some teasers from the shoot:

Mayer Hawthorne @ Make-up club, Gent

Somewhere between hip hop and soul... that's the sound of Mayer Hawthorne. He performed an amazing show in the Make-up in Gent last night. Mayer Hawthorne, the blue-eyed soul singer of Stones Throw records, is a versatile artist. After pleasing the crowd with his retro-soul voice he showed us his dj-talent behind the decks. Mayer Hawthorne also known as Dj Haircut.

For 'the likers' of this singer, buy his debut-album: a Strange Arrangement. It's worth it.

Just ain't gonna work out... maybe so, maybe no...here are some pictures of the concert:

Thanks again Democrazy Team for keep on bringing these amazing artists!

It's all about the funk

The essential elements for a Friday evening:
  • funky people
  • Lefto and his musical friends
  • a dancing happy crowd
Last Friday these elements were all over the place. I looked forward to the night that Vadim came to Ghent, but the night surprised me.. The big names Vadim and Sa-Ra productions made me go to the Minnemeers venue but it was Breakestra that made me move! The night exploded with this rare groove funk band from Los Angeles. I dare to say it was one of the best concerts I've seen in 2009... Big up to the new amazing female vocalist

I found a video of Breakestra in Leuven a few days before they were in Ghent. Certainly not as good as in Ghent, if we make a little city clash.. but still an amazing band!
